WHERE THE FISH EAGLES FLY

Leaving the lovely warm sea breeze & golden sands of Wilderness behind us, we headed north, over four mountain passes.

Within an hour you feel as if you are in Switzerland!!! Just beautiful

Another world again

Then down the other side of the mountains it is different yet again!. Miles upon miles of arid plains of scorched grass and grey scrub land.  This is The Karoo - home of the ostrich & meerkats!!!

Another log cabin but this is overlooking a lake with a huge variety of birds.  Fish Eagles are nesting in a far off tree

It is heavenly sitting on our verandah listening to the birds calling as the sun sets, with a glass of wine.!!

Just hope to hear the Fish Eagle cry!

This is De Zeekoe Farm, a five minute drive from our log cabin.
We enjoyed an afternoon swim and Barry enjoyed watching cricket!!

Great place and we are here for 3 days again which means we can relax and enjoy.

All the places we've stayed in have been so different.  Country manor, 1920 tent, room overlooking river & sand dunes, log cabin on the rocks, B & B looking over lagoon, fab apartment looking out to sea & sands and now a log cabin overlooking a natural bird sanctuary and lake.  All so different and all lovely.

Because the pound is so strong against the rand everything is very cheap.
South Africa has wonderful vineyards so you can get a really good wine at a quarter of the price at home!   Last night we had a lovely red wine with fillet steak which melted in your mouth for £10 pp.
Everything is half the price we'd pay in UK!!!

Now do you fancy coming out????!!!
